## Medicare help in Raleigh

Triangle Life and Health is headquartered in Raleigh, on Six Forks Road in North Raleigh, so Wake County is home. Raleigh clients can meet in person at our office, or by phone or video if that's easier. We compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement (Medigap) and Part D plans from the insurance companies we represent in Wake County, check them against your doctors and prescriptions, and help you enroll. ## What's local about Medicare in Raleigh

Medicare is federal, but your plan choices depend on where you live. Major hospitals in the area include WakeMed, UNC Health Rex and Duke Raleigh Hospital.

### Networks follow the hospitals

Most Raleigh residents get care through WakeMed, UNC Health Rex or Duke Raleigh Hospital. WakeMed is its own health system, while Rex and Duke Raleigh are part of UNC Health and Duke Health. Medicare Advantage networks differ on which of these they include, so we check your doctors and hospitals before comparing anything else.

### How do I choose a Medicare Advantage plan in Raleigh?

Start with your doctors, hospitals and prescriptions. In Wake County, networks differ on which health systems they include, and drug lists differ too. We compare the plans we offer in Wake County against your list and walk through premiums, copays and the yearly out-of-pocket limit. We do not offer every plan available in your area.

### When can I enroll in Medicare in Raleigh?

Your Initial Enrollment Period is the 7 months around your 65th birthday. After that, Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, and people in a Medicare Advantage plan can make one change from January 1 to March 31. Moving, losing employer coverage and some other life events open a Special Enrollment Period.

### Does North Carolina have a Medigap birthday rule?

No. Outside your 6-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period or a guaranteed issue right, a new Medigap policy in North Carolina usually requires answering health questions. That makes your first decision at 65 important.

### Does it cost anything to use an agent?

No. Medicare Advantage and Part D premiums are the same whether you enroll through us, directly with the insurance company or on Medicare.gov, and Medigap rates are filed with the state. Agents are paid by the insurance company.
