For North Carolina, the headline is simple: **plan line-ups changed, and many counties have fewer Medicare Advantage choices than in 2026.** Here's what the federal data shows and what it means for your Annual Enrollment decision (October 15 – December 7, 2026). ## North Carolina 2027 at a Glance - **106 Medicare Advantage plans** are offered somewhere in North Carolina for 2027, from 10 parent companies (102 plans in 2026). If your plan is ending, your plan will mail you a **non-renewal letter** in October. You'll get a Special Enrollment Period to choose new coverage, and if you don't pick a plan you could end up in Original Medicare without drug coverage (if you get Extra Help, Medicare will assign you a drug plan). ## Out-of-Pocket Limits in North Carolina Every Medicare Advantage plan caps what you pay for covered in-network medical care each year. Federal rules allow up to **$9,850** in 2027 (up from $9,250). Among North Carolina plans for 2027, in-network limits range from **$3,400 to $9,850**, with a median of about $7,100. Two plans with the same premium can have very different limits, so it's worth comparing. ## Standalone Part D Plans If you have Original Medicare (with or without a Medigap plan), you'd add drug coverage through a standalone Part D plan. North Carolina has **11 standalone Part D plans for 2027** (12 in 2026). In 2027, the most any Part D plan can charge for a deductible is $700, and the out-of-pocket cap on covered drugs is $2,400.
